2026 Spring Programs
CANOE TRIPPING & WHITE WATER
4TH, 5TH, & 6TH GRADES
5 WEEKS OF CANOEING
TWO SESSIONS A WEEK, 2.5 HOURS A SESSION
CULMINATING OVERNIGHT ADVENTURE
Join us this spring for an invigorating five weeks of canoeing on our local waterways! This program will prepare each participant with technical skills, a basic knowledge of canoeing, and even get into the most exciting aspect of it all: local whitewater! While we welcome all ability levels, no experience is necessary!
The weekly sessions will start with foundational skills such as paddle strokes, steering and how to communicate with your paddle partner and progress to more advanced skills such as capsize rescue techniques and portaging (carrying canoes), progressing to whitewater techniques and canoe tripping. Most importantly, this program is all about getting outside this spring, making lasting memories, and having FUN!
To facilitate a safe and enjoyable overnight adventure, other skill development areas will build upon environmental awareness, leave no trace ethics, back-country cooking, and other essentials important for safety and fun on an overnight in the field.
In addition, each session is infused with our social-emotional learning curriculum, weaving together team building, group games, and guided reflection. With small group sizes, we’re able to foster meaningful relationships, strong group bonds, and a high instructor-to-student ratio that keeps learning personalized and engaging.
Lastly, as part of our commitment to community connection, one session is dedicated to service learning, with a hands-on project in partnership with a local like minded organization. Learn more about our service learning here.
“I’ve already done a Sundog canoe program, is it worth signing up if I already know everything?” That’s awesome, welcome back! Participant leadership opportunities will be built into our progression for any more experienced paddlers in the group. Additionally, each program is unique!
Please note: Welcome email with detailed course information and complete schedule with daily locations/activity will be emailed one-week prior to program start after enrollment. Questions now? Don’t hesitate to reach out.

Join us this spring for an unforgettable 5-weeks of mountain biking on our local trail systems supplemented by camp craft skills such as shelter building, map and compass navigation, fire building, and more. This program is designed to introduce participants to the basics of mountain biking, including riding techniques (effective bike position, safe climbing/descending, effective shifting and braking, etc.), routine maintenance, and other bike related skills. Participants register for either a Saturday group or a Sunday group, each of which meets for two sessions over consecutive weekends.
Over the two weekend days, participants will explore the basics of climbing in a low-pressure, safety-first atmosphere. We'll focus on building comfort with climbing gear, movement on rock, and foundational climbing practices, all while keeping the emphasis on fun, exploration, and teamwork.
