On Snow, In Style
WINTER 2018 | 5th & 6th Grade

This winter program consists of 12 hands on training sessions (2 per week) that will prepare each student with the technical skills and knowledge to complete a winter hut trip. Participants will use snowshoes, cross-country skis, and fat bikes to develop the skills for expedition travel in the winter. Participants will learn to build snow shelters, dig snow camps, and will construct the pulk sleds that will be used to transport the group food an equipment during the culminating expedition.

Due to the unpredictability of winter weather in coastal Maine, skills will be developed on cross country skis, snowshoes, and fat bikes as conditions warrant. Participants will finish the 6 weeks session having spent some time using the three modes of winter travel listed above.
